Top 3 Nigerian musicians with a strong chance to win at the 2024 Grammy Awards
As the 66th Grammy Awards approach, clues and indications point to a historic victory in terms of artists taking home the prestigious awards that evening. The list of nominees for the event saw the most African artists to be nominated in a single year in the history of the award.
The largest awards show in the entertainment industry is slated to happen on Sunday, February 4, 2024. Nigerian performers are expected to be the main attractions of the evening, with many of them expected to grace the red carpet, take the stage, and win awards. Because of this, we have listed three Nigerian musicians.
Burna Boy
Although the singer didn’t win a Grammy in 2023, Burna Boy was the most nominated artist from Nigeria ahead of the 66th Grammy Awards. However, we predict that he might break the record of being the only Nigerian artist to win multiple Grammy awards.
Burna Boy had a successful 2023, but we think his song “Alone” from the Black Panther soundtrack is the one that will most likely win him a Grammy Award. Burna has an advantage in this category due to both the song’s widespread acceptance and his flawless performance of Alone, which was nominated for Best Global Music Performance.
Davido
The singer is expected to win at least one of the three categories in which he was nominated, and we believe that category to be Best African Music Performance, for which he was nominated with his viral hit song, Unavailable. This comes after the official confirmation of Davido’s first set of Grammy Award nominations with the biggest album release of 2023, Timeless.
Unavailable, which swept the globe, broke records, and set new ones, was possibly the greatest song to come out of Africa in 2023.
Asake
Nigerian artist Asake has been nominated for a Grammy for the first time in history in the category of Best African Music Performance. He has never before received a Grammy Award nomination.
This is a momentous occasion for Ololade Mi, Asake, the original. He is creating a stir and establishing their name on the international scene.
Olamide and Asake’s collaboration on “Amapiano” was a hit song that peaked at the top of the charts and became a national anthem in Nigeria and other African nations.
For Asake, 2023 has been an incredible year. He won the Male MVP title in February at the Soundcity MVP Awards, which were hosted in Lagos at the Eko Convention Center. And that was only the start. He obtained the title of in May.
For Asake, 2023 has been an incredible year. He won the Male MVP title in February at the Soundcity MVP Awards, which were hosted in Lagos at the Eko Convention Center. And that was only the start. He won the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ Best African Artist of the Year title in May. Talk about crossing the border with a big move. Asake continued after that. He demonstrated that he is the next in line for greatness by winning the highly sought-after 2023 Headies Next Rated award. With his number-one album, “Mr. Money With The Vibez,” he also won the Album of the Year award.
Olamide and Asake deserve congratulations on their historic nominations!
